Today, I want to write about something very exciting. I call it building your circle, and I’m using a particular group of friends as case study. These guys have grown together and become influential . I call them—The Gilmore Gang.
If you’re a TikTok junkie like me (FYI, I consume way too much content on TikTok lol), you would have seen these guys—Gilmore, TrenchBoy, Paper Chaze, Precious, Annie, Sharon, Mateen, StoneCode, Ogbono, Fisayo, Leeyah, and more. I’m not sure I mentioned all of them. But they are a cool clique making amazing content. My favourite is Sharon tho. I like how she acts the story of an elder sister who is always stressed by her mother.
But really, who are they?
They are the rave of the TikTok world right now. These guys are killing it. With hundreds of thousands of followers and fans, and funny and relatable content, they have turned into the latest TikTok content cartel.
It all started with Gilmore. Gilmore goes way back when he started shooting content around the character of a secondary school student—Ogunmepon. It was funny and relatable as hell, and it got him good fame. Then came TrenchBoy and Paper Chaze, who started joining him in their skits. And somehow, these guys built something exciting.

When I look at them, I see a group of young people who have hacked the idea of communal growth. It’s very easy for jealousy to seep into groups like these, but instead, these guys are ever so united. It’s not rare to see them share resources, feature in each other’s videos, and support one another. You watch a video by Sharon and then another one by Precious, and you realize it’s the same house they both used to shoot. Sometimes, you see the same clothes in different videos, meaning they practically just shot all the content together.

These guys have branched out from just skits to music and even film. TrenchBoy had the Sojinu sound last year that went viral and even had Victor Boniface dance to it to celebrate one of his goals in Germany. The funny thing is that all of them came together to make that sound a hit. They all promoted it, used it in their individual videos, and made it big.
Gilmore’s foray into movies was also an interesting one. He had this YouTube film that featured other TikTok creators. And I think this is just beautiful. When creators learn that collaboration is way better than competition, success is inevitable.
This crew has inspired a lot of others, and I think this is the way to go. Communal growth in content creation should become a thing.
I was talking with a friend of mine the other day, PraizSzn, who is a budding content creator, and I told him I was also seeing his own growth and how he’s bringing together his own gang. He is a student of Unilag and does relatable videos too. You should check his videos out.
The success of The Gilmore Gang is a powerful reminder that communal growth is a game-changer for content creators and professionals alike. We must never forgeth that collaboration drives innovation. When we work together, it amplifies our visibility, enhances creativity, and accelerates success. No matter your industry—whether you're a content creator, entrepreneur, or corporate professional—building a supportive community can be the exact thing that your need. It’s time to deliberatly build your circle.
Now, let’s talk about how to do this - One of the most effective ways to leverage communal growth is by sharing resources and knowledge.
When creators and professionals team up and share their skills, experiences, and platforms, they can reach bigger audiences and discover new opportunities. For example, if a videographer works with a social media strategist and a graphic designer, they can create top-notch content that none of them could produce on their own. By offering what you’re good at while learning from others, everyone wins and grows together.
Another smart move is to work on projects that showcase everyone’s strengths. Whether it’s creating content together, hosting online events, or starting a community project, collaborating helps you come up with fresh ideas and reach more people. It also takes the pressure off doing everything yourself—you can focus on what you do best while your team handles the rest. This not only improves the quality of your work but also strengthens relationships and opens the door to new opportunities.
Most importantly, be intentional about supporting each other. Share each other’s work, celebrate wins together, and offer help when needed. When one person in the group succeeds, it lifts everyone up.
When you chose to collaborate instead of compete, you create a supportive environment where everyone grows and thrives. In the long run, those who focus on community and teamwork will always stand out and go further.
